W I N T E R I N G

I want to hear from you if you love the cold. I need to absorb the list you carry in your heart of all the reasons you hold winter dear. Tell me that it makes you feel alive; that you find a snow blanketed world peaceful; that early darkness and candlelight sings the song of your soul.

My seasons are spring and summer. Produce, flowers, bare feet, picnics, porch sits. But I am trying. I found socks I actually like (and brought them in for you at the shop), I am taking my internal and external hydration VERY seriously (come try my favorite face oil, it’s life giving), and after a long long hiatus for some unknown and unfathomable reason— I’ve made myself a reader of books again. That last one is as much about night time blue light avoidance as it is about allowing myself the pleasure of something that feels like escaping— but who doesn’t need a mental vacation, amiright?

The best face oil. Really.

I’ve been thinking a lot of what would draw me out of my warm house in the evenings of January/February/March, knowing as I do that people are good for you, novelty is good for you, and community doesn’t happen solely on the internet— you may have noticed some after hours offerings from us aside from our ceramics workshop schedule.

The first of these is a cute little propagation plant swap on Thursday, January 23rd at 7pm. If you’re anything like me— you are forever trying to keep your monstera from taking over a room, or pulling things from the garden to keep alive and growing through the winter. It’s an effort to bring the outdoors in while everything fades to grey out the window. And, if you’re a plant person— I’m willing to bet you’ve already got windowsills full of new growth you’d love to pass on to someone who’ll tend and care for your cutting as joyfully you would.

If that resonates— you’re invited. If you want to give me a little heads up you’re coming (and with what) I can make sure I’ve got plenty of snacks and space. Just respond to this email and let me know. We’d love to have you.

Some brass tacks: plants have to be in some sort of container that will stay upright on a table. If they are propagations— glass jars of any kind are best. If you’ve got small plants, they should be in something that doesn’t leave a mess behind.

Stay tuned for February’s gathering invitation, and— if ceramics workshops are more your thing, you can sign up for one of our winter workshops on the WORKSHOPS page here on ye olde website. We only offer these in the slow season, so book your seat now, and come make some pots with us.
